UMW RETREAT:
ARE YOU A "DONKEY FETCHER?"
Six women from UMW attended the Lenten Retreat in San Benito on "Being the Kingdom." Rev. Pash Buck presented guides for living a Christian life. She focused on maintaining a Christian attitude and continued thankfulness for the many gifts God gives. Our attitudes become centered in Jesus urging his followers,
the People of the Way, to live the kingdom of God in their everyday lives. We too are called to live as if we are those through whom the Kingdom will come on earth as it is in Heaven. We have a way to go to make our earth Heaven-like.
The story of Jesus sending his disciples to retrieve the donkey gave us pause for SERIOUS thought.
The order was given, instructions were followed and the donkey was delivered as required. Rev. Buck talked of each of us being "Donkey Fetchers" for God. Making that happen requires more listening than talking.
(Two ears, one mouth, a friend noted.) We need to focus on our inward journey as well as our outward journey in Christian living. God does send each of us information, but we do not always recognize it or take heed of it. If we can listen and hear, perhaps we will be better People of the Way and "Donkey Fetchers" for our God.
